Kendriya Vidyalaya no.1,AFS,Tambaram is run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan under the ministry of HRD , Govt of India.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 on the 15th December 1965.

It is an autonomous body formed by the ministry of Education (HRD), Government of India, New Delhi, primarily to cater to the needs of the children of Central Government Employees including Defense personnel and floating population with a common syllabus and affiliated to C.B.S.E ,New Delhi.

The Vidyalaya ensures its students total personality development and academic excellence. Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 Tambaram is situated at Madambakkam Camp ,which is 3 kilometers away from Tambaram railway station. KV1 Tambaram has a total strength of 1300 students and 52 staff members.
