Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Kalpakkam, established in 1970, is located on the eastern coast of southern peninsula in the picturesque background of the sparkling silver sands and rolling waves of the Bay of Bengal.
The school started with the students strength of 200 but today it provides education to as many as 800 students. Shri.G. Subramanian, Shri. V.V. Srikantaiah and Shri. M.R. Subramanian are some of the eminent Principals. Today, the Principal Shri V. Rajagopal, with a team of dedicated teachers, provides a wholesome education to the wards of DAE residents and people round.
The Students have an option to choose between Biology and Informatics Practices & between Mathematics and Hindi. Being a scientific, elite community, the parents and students of Kalpakkam tend to prefer Science Stream at +2 Level. As such the Staff of the Vidyalaya provide an extensive course in all subjects mentioned above.
