Dosa Festival

We stayed at Hotel Supreme in Madurai very near to the Meenakshi temple. There was a "Dosa Festival" at Hotel's Roof garden restaurant at that time. There were a large variety of dosas. We ordered for a 3-in-1 Dosa and a Cauliflower-Paneer Dosa.


Chennai

We started from Pondicherry to Chennai in 7th March via Tindivanam. From Tindivanam, the new four line road offers very good and fast travel to Chennai. We reached Chennai by 10 am.


Pondicherry

We reached Pondicherry by 3pm via Neyveli and Cuddalore. Neyveli is known for Neyveli Lignite Corporation. Pondicherry is a Union Territory of India formerly under the colonial French rule. Pondicherry is about 160km away from Chennai and is a sea-side town. It has many French monuments. The famous Aurabindo Ashram is situated here. Pondicherry attracts a lot of tourists.

Trichy

We started our trip from Madurai to Chennai via Trichy on 6th march. We reached Trichy by 9 am. Trichy is the 4th largest city in Tamilnadu situated on the banks of the river Cauvery.

Madurai Meenakshi Temple

Madurai is always associated with Sri Meenakshi - Sundareswarar Temple. The city of Madurai is built around the temple. There are four massive gates or Gopurams full of paintings and sculptures enclosing the temple. There is a Golden Lotus tank inside the temple premises. The temple attracts many tourists and pilgrims.


Madurai

Madurai is one of the great temple town of South India is situated on the banks of the river Vaigai.

These photos are taken enroute to Madurai from Thenmala. The bridge in the photo is a rail route in the Kollam-Senkotai sector. There are many hairpin bends in this road. One of the major bend is seen in the picture. After the Ghat section of the road, into the TamilNadu region the road sides are full of agricultural fields..




Thenmala

Through Haripad-Kayamkulam-Adoor-Pathanapuram-Punalur we reached Thenmala.

Thenmala is a small village at the foothills of Western Ghats and it is a forest area. The area is known for Eco-tourism.

Thenmala dam seen in the photograph is built across kallada river.


Chennai Trip

From Mumbai we reached Kerala on 6th feb... It was a nice experience being in such a fast moving city for one year.. since we were away from kerala for a long time we visited all our relatives.. after that we planned our chennai trip on 5th march... since we belong to south kerala kollam-thenkasi-madurai-trichy-chennai route is the shortest route to reach chennai... since malu is only 2 years old we decided to break our journey first in madurai and then in pondichery...

We started our journey on 5th March around 5am...
