Kanyakumari, the popular tourist destination in Tamilnadu Photo Gallery.

Kanyakumari, earlier known as Cape Comorin, is a famous tourist and pilgrimage destination. It lies on the southernmost tip of the Indian mainland.

Kanyakumari takes its name from the temple of Goddess Devi Kanya Kumari. The temple is very old and is mentioned in the ancient literature in Sanskrit.

Swami Vivekananda came to Kanyakumari on the direction of his Guru Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the 133 feet tall statue of Tamil saint poet Thiruvalluvar, one of the biggest statues in Asia, are the two most important attractions of Kanyakumari. These two are situated off the coast.

Sunset and Sunrise at Kanyakumari is also popular among tourists.
