| The film was really a genuine attempt in taking Tamil Cinema an one step further.
I don't entertain the review given by Richard Mahesh - it clearly shows he is a below-par critic and his review is nothing but crap and doesn't really go into the depths of the film overall.
Hats off to Selvaraghavan who has really succeeded in his attempt. It seems he has done lot of research for this movie which is really evident in each and every aspect of the movie, esp. after the "Intermission". The cast and the co-actors have given a brilliant performance esp. Reema Sen - the way she portrays her hatred towards Cholas is really seen to be believed.

| Mr. Selva Ragavan, it's a great and supper flim of tamil industry. Acter and Actress's acting in the flim are realy very good. Normaly all new things get criticized at first. But You don't worry. The songs are very good, especialy that 'Nell adum vayal engai?' song, that parthiban's song. All the best of your next part of Ayirathil Oruvan. I like more and more flims are comes in this type. |

It seems to me that u people are more interested in watching masala type of movies, if you people look into the way the director has scripted the movie is something new in Tamil industry, as Shanmugam said, had it been a hollywood movie, u people probably would have appreciated it. Moreover when the movie was rated as "A" how can u take the kids to this movie, obviously the usage of "Sanga Tamizh" is little tough to understand for adults itself, so how they (kids) will get it. For the first time in the industry someone has tried to compete with hollywood so u must praise the attempt. Even in Hollywood, when Spielberg continued the "Indiana Jones" series, it was the same, but still many of the indian audience liked it, eventhough the story of the movie was based on their history, in the same way mel gibson went for Apocalypto, which is more obscene and got more accolades, likewise selva had scripted his own imagination and hardwork. I would say a novice director in this genre of movie, had really taken a lot of effort; it happens that taking a different genre for first time leaves some mistakes, but thats what will make a good film maker. Hats off to Selva and his whole team. If allowed to vote, i will vote the movie as a landmark in indian cinema and it even deserves an award for the beautiful song "Thai thindra mannae" for its lyrics and music. Once again, if u do not understand the movie, do not attempt to write the comments on it. |

| 2000+ years of Tamizh heritage was literally carved out by Chozhas and Pandiyas. They were far more civilized than other dynasties around the world. The context for the movie (references to Chozhas and Pandiyas) is condemnable.
The filthy dialogues, explicit objectionable obscene picturization and pathetic sense of creativity are the accomplishments of this long awaited movie.
This looked like "HOLLYWOOD PADAM" in Tamizh. Please read it in context of "TAMIZH PADAM" released resently.
Selva... Please direct a good tamizh movie next time which we can watch with our family and kids. You have achieve enough of "Obscenity/Filthy Dialogue/Psycho Imagination/...". If you can't be sit back and relax. Don't torture us next time. |

| Film industry is the one of the industries that has the fervour of adopting the latest technology to look outstanding by itself. It is evident now that film industry evolved from flickering black/white frames to colourful computer generated scenes. Apart form the technological innovations, the people 'Behind screen' the technicians like Director, Editor, Camera Man, Art Directors, Musicians are also kick in with their new innovative ideas of expressing their works. The style of ‘Editing’ a film is now changed, previous the film scenes were edited based on the way we ‘see’ the things in the real world but now the scenes are being edited based on the way we ‘think’ and similarly the way of the story telling also changing. Selvaraghavan has adopted a method which is new to Tamil film industry and all movie goers. We often come across the experience about the previous day night dreams, they are with lot of emotions, hilarious, foolish, scary, new world of strangers, no logic, colourful, confusing, not able to follow, pleasant, reflections of what we saw/heard/experienced etc.etc.,
People who could not follow the film please now remember Ayirathil Oruvan is Selvaraghavan “Dream” project. Isn’t a new way of story telling?

| First of all i congratulate the whole team of AO. Especially actor parthiban karhtik actress reema and director selva and also those 3000 artiste who worked for the movie.In my point of view i would say both 1st and 2nd part is awesome. I watched this movie thrice. Importantly this is one such movie made a benchmark in indian film industry after a long time(epic based , no masala).I feel that this movie should be awarded national award.
At the end of the movie we see that it says "chozhan payanum thodarum" so will cholan take a revenge!....Will there be a second part?

| I appreciate the attempt of taking tamil cinema to a world class. But the stuff required to full fill the world class is not accomplished in this move. Hence selva raghan need to do some homework to understand that creating world class is something that can be acquired by making film in their home nativity with good quality rather than replicating other foriegn movies. |

First half felt so interesting..but second hald was such a let down. The ancient chola/pandya kingdoms were not as gross as depicted in the movie. And its not fair to show them like barbaric and brainless people.
in my opinion, this movie is for those who lack taste and can withstand a lot of blood and gore. |

Selva could have taken a movie with shakila..if he really wanted to show some nudity and use filthy adult language. the movie is full of bull shit..background score is noisy...hard rock?? to introduce a chola king..sure he stole it from 300 english movie...Un mele asadhan is a straight copy from Yuvan's.. | I was really thrilled to see such a much movie in Tamil in terms be Hardwork and time spent.
I was really upset to see such a hardwork and time spent in the movie got spoilt because of lack of proper storyline. A simple theme taken from ancient history of Tamils would have done wonders to the movie. Just take a look at Gladiator, Troy etc.... everyone knows the story nothing new nor great about it but the way they took the movie, those movies are huge hit, even now we can watch it again. When you direct an ancient/historic storyline, we needn’t got for complex/controversial subject, since everything what you show in screen is new for the audience.
Spending huge money/time ===> Reach of large audience (simple theme like Avatar would have made the movie rating to “Medium” rather than getting “Worst” rating.

| Its an awesome movie... Some knowledge of ancient ppl and their life style, raja tantras are enough to understand this movie.. Its not wise to blame it any ways.. Really different in the midst of movies where there'll be a hero who can do anything and at the end after overcoming all the difficulties will marry the heroine or taking revenge or triangle love... I came out with the feeling that I'll be pne among Chozha's, Pandiya's or Chera's.. I Welcome this kind of movie in tamil... I wonder how ppl are saying for some movies like "watever glamour is needed for the movie is only been done..." But as far as i saw, this statement fits fot this movie.. Hats off to the team.....!!

| I ll give 4 for this movie and this is a must watch one.Actually the second half was the best of the film.If you don't like the second half then it means you haven't changed from the old stlye of tamil movies(with a kuthu song and 5 fights, with hero and heroine introduction, and hero joining heroine by killing the villan).

| To be geniune and simple, It is a great movie, this movie onwards Selva ragavan is a special director for tamil audience, I watched twice, my freinds as well.
for all who watches the movie with the same involvement as we did for avatar, we get lost.
audinces who thinks of under-inteligent tamil movies and starts watching AO, will surely lose clues about the second half in initial part of the movie and struggles to understand later part.It happens even in all other big stories like including avatar, mummy or Indiana jones.
Adults (means, includes even middle age, seniors, not just 18-25) enjoy every scenes of the naughty, selfish hero. |

This is a one of a kind movie. One that the director had the sagacity and audacity to make among all the run of the mill movies that the Tamil movie industry shamelessly serves up regularly. Your first science fiction-type film in Tamil and you scorn it this way? Yes it has loop holes and infirmities but none big enough to dismiss it off hand in this fashion.
This movie may not become a commercial success. But that alone is not a metric to comment on whether the film is good or not. This is a film with potential. Potential to inspire future film makers to base their stories on the rich history that Tamil Nadu has to offer to the film industry. |

| The movie's new angle,story is nice. The director showing map of Viet - Actually Ankorwat of Cholas. Nothing historical to Cholas/Pandiyas but looks alike the Srilankan elam war. Negatives - Poor depiction of the Chola king/people, bad costumes, bad dialogues, dark cave scenes, tribals stupidity, reptiles.. They could have done better for the budget |

- in a nut-shell its a movie whose storyline is novel but on-screen visualization is not entertaining.
The film begins with an excellent start and progresses with a rapid pace till the interval.
But the post interval scenes create a confusion among the audiences and certain must-be-avoided scenes spoil the rest of the film. Especially the chola dynasty and its people are shown like cannibals really! which is really unusual.
Selva trying to break the conventions about the appearance and the backdrops of a king pathetically fails to impress.
The gladiator type fight sequence is surely a visual treat.
And the CLIMAX, though many think wasnt too good, is the BEST
CLIMAX for the film. The war sequences probably inspired from TROY, wasnt too logical, though it was wonderful to see. Selva trying to depict too many things during the second half, lacks coherence in his script, but the latter part of the second half is satisfactory.
On the whole, the film is watchable but beware NOT WITH YOUR FAMILY! |

Yes i agree we dont question the hollywood movies. whom do we question?, we dont connect with the director, culture etc. we have to compare with a holly wood because of the movies claim. no one compared his earlier movies with HW. this movie reminds us of atleast4 HW movies. and it is natural for us to compare. it is a bad movie. |

| His films earlier, either with sensational scenes or not, were grasping with superb acting, so such stories were a hit, for they were able to reach all audience and even a lay man would understand them, pls understand that great movies even hollywood movies with high graphics and all do not run just because of graphics and sensation, it runs only when the story is grasping and reaches all audience (this is the mantra, eg. titanic) unless you are planning to pass on some code words, which could be deciphered only by a certain type of audience and that is your only intention, then you are bound to get criticized, this is like speaking Japanese to an Indian and criticizing him as mad because he did not understand it.
"Parthiban was the last predecessor of the exiled Chola king, and the ppl were cut off from civilzation for the past 1000 years. They were starving in the island for ages, waiting for a messenger to take them back to their kingdom. But as u know chola civilzation does not exist and they were suffering in the dark caves with wrong presumption."
------So they adopted the ways of the tribals (food and sex behaviour) there and started following them, but still were retaining old clothing styles to prove they were still the remains of the old dynasty - they forgot about farming, cattle rearing, etc., which they must have learnt in India?
Even tribal people living in a place equal to Sahara do something for a living - so the great remains of Chola Dynasty had no pride or strength to survive in any situation themselves for they copied what an uncivilized tribal would do for a living and get even worse than them, no one in their right sense of mind, whether they are the remains of a great dynasty or not, would live like this, even a beggar goes rounds and collects some food and eats, even the weakest of people do something to get proper food, they wont start eating each other just because they are unable to go and get food that day, they would rather starve than eat such nonsense, it is plain illogical!
To those who glorify the comparision of the chola king to srilankan tamils, even they are not like the tribals as potrayed in the film, and they are highly civilized (some of them) earning good salary in foreign and all. Even the fighting LTTE were civilized to the order they had women in their army wearing army outfits (you can see in news and all), so only a person not in the right mind who had suffered greatly in childhood would take refuge in the clothes of a king of what is the remains of a once great kingdom and imagine that he and his kingdom will be raped by outsiders and hide in a cave forever like a spineless kink.
If the one real prince had remained and a similar situation had occurred, he would have recreated chola kingdom in its past glory and would have made it strong with its ancient glory and would have made even stronger defense system and would have been an example to his predecessors, for that is what the blood of once great king would do - show bravery and courage rather than become a parasite to him as well as his people, eg., in "Scorpion King" the defeated king prays to God to give him support of an army and destroys all his enemies at least before he dies, that is how a warrior/Kshatriya would behave rather than saving his skin hiding in a cave waiting stupidly for a messenger for 1000 years.
I wonder how there was no revolution like the French Revolution or the like with so many hungry people, when the king was eating and fattening leaving his people hungry, they revolted against him and dethroned him, that is what would happen logically.
To be frank, here there is no fantasy of a Chola King, it is the fantasy of a disturbed child who thinks he will become great if he takes the refuge of a great king and people will be terrified of him, but outside the cave, he just proves to be a kink, defeated so he is only good for proving his manly skills to women and not to men, you dont know what such a man would be called!!!! A real man that too a king is worthless/spineless when he hides behind magic and magicians to lead him, and whiles away his time with women when his people are hungry - only psychopath will be near to him with no altruistic feelings.
Conclusion - this is the story of a psychopath who dresses like a king and thinks that he is great because he is having hungry women and men at his feet depending on him, that shows his psychopathic tendencies - no human emotions left in him at all!!!!! and a man like him will never understand the raja tantra or the tactics to think ahead of his enemy, for his living in his psychopathic world!!!! and this the hero you want to portray to your younger generation, I think hollywood though they have some sensational content, their heroes fight till the end and show bravery, that is what the children should learn to be brave and courageous rather than become psychopathic because of failure and hide from society!!!! Moral of the story - A leader who is a coward can never win even if his enemy is a rat who is trying to frighten him, he will run and hide in another cave from the rat!!!!!

| Okay creativity is good, but when you are not able to convey what is in your head to 90% of the audience, then you and your movie are a failure. To be frank, I did not feel any pity for the woman trying to prove that she was milk-less and hunger-stricken and also for the women who were being raped, I just felt plain disgust, for your mind reads all these from the expression on the face, their faces registered no such expression to make us feel pity for them, it was kind of when will all this nonsense stop, and here the director has failed, you could have achieved this without so much of skin show if you had hired actors with good acting skills rather than random people, their expressions would have been enough to convey to us that they were suffering and our heart would have reached to them and their suffering, here we could feel only plain disgust and hatred for the women who were shameless enough to act in such a way for no reason. Another thing, I felt no remorse when the king died or whatever happened to him, thanked God that the ugly man-eating lusty creature was out of the scene, and felt too much hatred for the hero for running away with this creature's son to begin a sequel to this ugly life of the creature that was called a king!!! |

| I'm quite surprised to see so many comments... just shows the level of expectation this movie had generated.
But let me be honest with you...though this was a brave attempt, it was a big let down, a complete screwup to be blunt. I spent Rs.250 to watch this movie on the first day and was so disappointed at the end of the first half that I hoped that the second half might be the saviour. But the second half was all downhill. I just was hoping for a great movie experience and ended up feeling restless and praying for end. The reaction of the audience summed it all up. I wouldnt watch it again even on TV. |

I am not sure whether u would be reading this.I agree that criticism will help in analyzing the directors work.But this is not the way u criticize.All those criticism were so negative that it kill the creator rather than helping him and BTW Selva clearly said that the movie has no relevance to history and in one another interview ,he said that it was his brain child.So no point in arguing over the correct and fact of history in it and lady, I too have paid 220 bucks and felt bad at some places where the soldiers will encircle the tribe and start shooting forgetting the concept of cross fire,but those are very small things that could be condoned for the level this movie symbolizes.And for ur dumb brain,I have seen too many movies of different languages and I know what i write.Do not force ur perception or ur moral scale on others.This is a movie and not a history document and it got certified as A.So will u pls...... |

| Unfortunately, we went to the theater as a family, and I have never been so embarrassed in my whole life watching a movie, not only that, there were family people everywhere and I could see half of them grimacing or making faces, none of them were comfortable, with such a feeling who would even think of trying to understand the movie.
I think all the people who gave positive reviews went alone, may be they should try taking their family with them, and sit through all the 3 hours of this adult-rated movie, then they won't even feel like giving a positive review.
About the comment that when it is a hollywood movie, people watch it with open eyes, in hollywood, strictly children are not allowed for such movies, there is a parental guide for such movies, so the kids are spared, but here moneyminded people let children see it because all they want is money, and what action is being taken regarding this, probably when the teacher asks about chola kings, the kids will answer he eats man flesh and asks women to be nude, nice lesson to the kids, and when they see such things in future, they will say, oh even our kings are like that so what is wrong in that, nothing!!! nice attitude to be learnt for the kids!!!
To be frank, if the film had chosen a fictious names for the kings, just as a fictious story for the cholas and pandiyas, may be one would have watched with an open mind and tried to connect them with Srilankan tamils, also if the gory and nude scenes were avoided, we would have felt pity for the hungerstricken kingdom, this is like putting lot of chilly in sweet and asking how sweet was the sweet, all you can think about is getting rid of the chilly you can hardly think about the sweet.
In Lord of the Rings, Narnia, whole story, characters, names etc are fictious so you watch with an open mind, but when there is a true history and people are acquainted with it, and you give a fictious alternative to the accepted history, it is bound to be criticized, if you wanted badly to go with cholas and pandyas' names then you should not have deviated much from real history a lot!!!!

| Those who appriciate Schyco Selva : Cholas and Pandias are Tamil kings and also the rivals who rules TamilNadu for few thousands of years. The First Chola dynasty emerged as the First Pandiya Dynasy was demolished by the Cholas. During this time Karikalan build "Kallanai" (approximately before 2000 years). Which still exists in good condition near Trichy. This itself shows how well they had their position and their culture during those days. Then again Pandiya II dynasty emerged by demolishing Chola Dynasty I. Then again Chola Dynasty II emerged at the end of PD II. During this time Raja Raja built "Tanjore Big temple". And also they conquered "Sri Viyaja Dynasty"( todays Singapore, Malaysia and other places around it) Even though these two dynasties fought between each other, they never mis-treated the other even after wining the battle. They were that much civilized. Pandiyas had given their own "Crown" and "Diamond Garland" to Singalese kings to safe guard from Cholas and considered as a symbol of their self-respect. There is nothing in this movie to say that it is a new concept about "Pandiyas Idol". He has not learned anything about Cholas and he has insulted them as much as possible. Also trying to do some flesh trade. How many of you think that island would have been deserted and Chola would have gone there? Or else if had the support of those Kings ruled( Probably "Sri Vijaya Dynasty") their, then the Cholas would have had relationship with them and would be knowing how the world had been changed in those 800 years. One dialogue in that movie "Oh! King( Parthiban) You are eating and enjoying everything inside your place. But we are suffering because of hungry". If people think so, then how come they would have supported him/kings for the past the 800 years?
A worst and waste movie which insults great Cholas and creates bad image about them and also Tamils.A group of Idiots who don't know anything about Cholas, their history and Civilization of Tamils, appriciate this worst movie.
Last but not least their is no connection between this movie and LTTE as it was taken 3 years back. This Schyco Selva not even thought about Cholas and his own movie and then how he would have thought about this? Please don't make your own assumptions and create rumours.

Things that are silly are 1. No army will attack
in marchpast position (in line) and rounding up in
the sense not forming a perfect circle army he
shows is some sort of children’s playing
formation. Chola people attack is also silly only
has some formation like saving king etc., meeting
a modern army should have had some tactics like
gorilla warfare or some sort of super natural
power which he defines in the form of sound that
makes the three run and snakes that comes the
way. 2.Chola people in the flim is not well
defined reason: They are good at metallurgy (as
they use iron weapons, shield that are bullet
proof, gold ornaments and statues), even use
artillery, and also enjoys gladiator like fight
show but they live in cave this is stupidity
aren't they civilized ? and king should even bring
food. 3. Attack of snakes is also silly, they
don’t attack while they are in the way and
setting up camps (ok let it be a nocturnal
creatures some of sort of detailing like wipers
that live in the terrains should have used.) the
lion he shows in a frame is the funniest thing. (I
say this point is they worked for 2 years this
sort of things can be taken in account) I feel In
Tamil film industry they should form a team and
work on detailing while doing such a movie.
Director alone is not the boss if it is a one man
show we will only get such stupid movies. Good
try by the producer but he handed it in wrong
hands. Selva is only good(Vulgarity he show as
always) at cave scene, some vulgar scene with
rema, mother scene. Selva is not good at making a

personally i enjoyed the move very much. parthiban did a great job in the movie. this one is the best of his movies. its a must watch movie n m going to watch it the second time. just leave all ur love for masala n kutthu songs movies n go watch the movie. peeps dont have sense of tasting a good movie.. i recommend all people to watch it. selva rocks and all ya losers who comment negative are fit to eat shit.. will love if selva takes the second part.. |

| except for karthi's humour and a little cinematography, this movie is a disgusting piece of crap. please don't watch this and waste your time and money. the entry of the crew into the island and the horror striking black tribal ppl - obviously lifted from king kong. the entire 'red tribe' ran for the bullets of the crew as if they were eagerly awaiting this moment for ages. crap! hundreds of snakes suddenly sprang out from their hiding places and attack humans. crap! y was there a cat fight between reema and andrea? absolutely unnecessary crap! how come the landscape teeming with wildlife suddenly changes to desert? and one of the scenes showed a big rocky hill in the midst of the desert which resembled one windows wallpaper..! don't they have any creativity? and when they were trying to cross the stone henge like structure running along shadows, how come there were shadows all around the structure when sun was just on one side? i was expecting selva would provide some descent show atleast in the second half. but it was even more crappy! nothing to say about it except that it was a nightmare! through out the movie gore, vulgarity and nonsense was in top gear. i was impatiently waiting for the movie to get over asap. |

| Selvaragavan would have thought about a different movie originally. When he was making the movie, Eazham War IV was fought with the maximum intensity. Selva would have predicted that LTTE will be defeated in the war. That is why second half of the movie is nothing but the description of Eazham War IV. I am able to find even one to one match in the characters.

| First of all dont compare this movie with Hollywood movies. It ppl say this is related to LTTE take scan with doctor it was conceived 3 years ago when LTTe was still there in srilanka and no problem for them. For ppl who say this is milestone in tamil cinema give me a break yaar. u cant find any cheap vulgar scenes in movie than this dont say creativity. its all bullshit. picking up scenes from various movies is not creativity its copying. Selva is a good director but sex, skinshow and blood is not all film making. there is lot more than this in film making. | What a shocker the movie is. I can't believe my eyes that so many people posted commentes that they actually liked this movie. But not in our case of 200+ audience in Melbourne. We all know Selvaraghavan movies has vulgar scences and this movie has it to its core. All I could think is what a shocker. Every scence was reminding me some hollywood movie from Mummy, The Myth, Gladiator, etc., no originality at all. My personal view you can wait for the DVD release and watch at your home. |

| The movie is a mile stone in Tamil Cinema. But as the comments here show, the masala loving MORON tamil audience is NOT MATURE enuf. A good movie for the WRONG audience.
Personaly, i was never a selva fan.. bu this movie has gained respect for selva in my eyes.
For those guys who dont know why the Chola name was used .... It was used because INDIAN censor doesnt allow use of LTTE.
So what if he has taken liberty in potrayal of cholas. Guys try appreciating such a nice effort. GROW up .

I dont think any adventure movie have come out with U certificate. Adventure films are meant to be sensuous. If u cant accept this fact then see 300, TROY, TOMB Raider. | Nobody seems understood, why he chose the Chola dynasty as centre theme. Selva don't have the intention to make a movie on Cholas. The movie is all about Srilankan Tamil issue. The Tiger symbol of cholas is used to Symbolise LTTE (Tigers). The total dialect resembles the Srilankan Tamil. Reema's Character is designed with SONIA GANDHI in mind as she had a revenge for something lost. She acts as a helping hand for Tamils, but backstab them by providing all military help & fund from the Central minister (Its mentioned in the initial stage in the movie) to destroy the cholas. Its directly criticising the Congress Govt. Finally there is clarity in the movie, whether the King was dead or moved away somewhere (all shown in dark), which resembles Prabhakaran's Death Mystery. He ends the moive with a fitting climax, Karthi escapes with the King's son providing a hope for the native Tamils. |

Did you like Da vinci code(Where the story about jesus as a human) and Apocalypto where tribes in forest are shown to extreme level. what ever we see from hollywood means we would all speak high, if someone tries those kind of movie in our tamil industry we would always hesitate to accept it. Plz change this foolish approach(partiality here too). once again saying watch it for different experiance. | A kind request to those who've posted negative comments, I don't think you ppl never really worry about the story and screenplay as it is evident from your comments. I don think you ppl have understood the movie at all. The story and the screenplay has got its complete originality, whereas, someone mentioned there is no originality citing examples of mummy,gladiator,300,lord of the rings etc. those inspirations were only in certain scenes. first, learn to watch a movie. the first thing one should notice while watching a film is how the director has done justice to the story. And i personally think selva has done a commendable job. my humble request to you ppl dont post comments such as this, it really hurts.My personal comment about this movie is it is one of the best movies . Selva took me to the whole new world, which is full of his creativity. A mere idea of showing cholas in a hunger striken way itself is creativity to the core. | We would expect more from this film,but it is a very very different movie from the regular tamil movies.Frankly speaking i have not understood the story.Mr.Selvaraghavan have made a fair attempt to overcome regular masala films(mostly).He has to concentrate more in the story.With this invaluable effort,if have chosen a simple story it could have made the producer wealthier and would have taken the tamil film industry into untouchable level.Mr.Selva please avoid vulgarity in the scenes and dialogues in ur forthcoming movies,since u have a "A" rated image.Please break the image.
Karthi have done a superb job in this film.He gets appreciation for every dialogue he utters.He had no scope for acting in the second half of this film(Karthi please concentrate more in stories for ur future projects,since ur acting is mindblowing).
Reema sen,Andreah,Parthiban and others have done their part very well....Art director, camera man,music director and the whole crew of this film have made a brave effort.....
First of the film is very intersting while there is many loopholes(no logic,no story)in the second half.
Must watch movie for their excellent attempt(It is only my view on this film,there may be many difference of opinion).It is finally ur wish to watch the movie...

| Mr. Richard, you would have definitely given this movie a 4/5 rating, had it been a Hollywood one, and regarding the use of the dynasty names, the movie shows a disclaimer at the beginning. and i need not remind you that there are a number of english movies that had used various countries names in fiction stories. You would appreciate that but not this, right? No offence.

| This is a movie which will get contrasting review. According to me it is a MUST WATCH. It is a rare kind of movie which I am sure very few in India would dare to attempt. Movie is technically strong, good BGM, good acting.......
Aboout the second half, if you watch with interest u will not get bored. And the ending is also fine. What other ending can you think for a movie like this. It has to end where it begins and that is what Selva has done. Hats off to you Selva for such a good piece of work.

I saw the movie on pongal. First congrats to selva for this brave attempt. First half film is awesome. we have seen such films in hollywood only not even a single shot was made in indian film history earlier(I bet u). In the second half movie take another turn which is very dry but thats what the story is. With the scene and the kind of people he is showing in scene can have only that much of lighting and appearance. in the second half most of the scenes are within the cave. only two shots were outside the cave, those two scenes are amazing(Fight sequences). The darkness in the second half was not accepted by the audiences but selva doesnt like to compromise in those things(sticks to what the story need) Great! Watch it in theares. Whatever amount you pay for ticket is worthable for first half itself. Dont say foolish comments on. Selva has taken the tamil film industry to world level to challenge the hollywood. All the technicians have work hard for this film is seen in the screen. Great team selection selve. But in one department he made wrong judgement was Music Director selection. Many Flaws in musc department. Couldnt able to find the Heart touching back ground score which we could see in all selva's Film earlier. Really Yuvan shankar raja is missed in the movie. Selva take a word Always Yuvan is best for BGM after illaiyaraja. Even A.R. Rahman could not give best BGM for your movie then how can G.V. Prakash Kumar. Correct this with Yuvan. Really this film is a land mark in indian Film history without any doubt. Take a word, it would take atleast another 10 years to get such a great film from other directors(Leave selva, he might attempt such films in future soon). Watch it in theatres to experience the thrill in first half and rest of the film.

| The movie is awesome, untill the modern army captures the Cholars. Even then they had shown the true, what happens to the victim who get caught by the armies no matter which army(no matter which country it belongs too). Probably my view may differ from others who criticise this movie. I enjoyed the movie, the richness in the adventorous path. Each and every move to search the Cholas, was awesome. Its been very long time to hear those golden tamil lyrics(Which is pure tamil, now called as "pandai thamizh" or old tamil). Our tradition would have forgetten cholas, pandiyas and cheras. This movie will be a standing thoughts, to say what happened to Cholas. Though few things, I dont like in this movie. I really admire the story and the techniques adapted to make it a success. One more thing to add on, It made me to browse and look for cholas and their history. Thanks for the movie, that made me to refresh my memory. Hats OFF. I had said everything above as my thought, not meant to hurt anyone. |

| I agrre the movie was a let down considering it's been more than 2 years under making. But yet atleast the director can be commended for taking a U turn from the regular commercial trashes like ajiths, vijay's, surya's Vishal's et all

| you can comfortably sit in a a/c room and tell not worth to watch. But you should thing in the given budget and technology what he can do. If you are dare enough, then take this sort of movie and you gave a verdict for this movie like this.
Now abt the movie:
A must watch movie... First half is awesome. As some said second half is having some flaws. But you should also think that, for the given conditions(money, technology), selva has done a wonderful job. I felt, at this point of time in india no one is dare enough to do this kind of movie. And moreover all the characters in this movie is perfectly blend with the story. esply Parthiban. Appreciating selva for such a dare attempt and giving a world class indian tamil cinema. |

| you don't know how to analyze a movie. What did you feel when you see the first half of the movie, thats excellent and second half also good but some of the graphics doesn't suits thats all. Otherwise this a very brave attempt. Selva is taking tamil film industry to a next level. Please don't give comments like this. Will you praise only films like Villu, Kuruvi where two commercial kuthu songs, sister crying and then revenge. Stop those non-sense stories. Be innovative like this. If you can't appreciate this movie its ok but dont give rubbish review like this. It spoils the tamil film industry |

Selvaraghavavan should cut down atleast 1 hr to make the movie viewable.
