Madharasapattinam is forthcoming Tamil film that stars Arya and directed by A. L. Vijay, who earlier directed hits like Kireedam and Poi Solla Porom. Kireedam was a remake of Mohanlal starrer hit with the same name.

Madharasapattinam is a period drama love story set in 1945 in the then Madras under British Raj. The film has the back drop in the pre-independent India and will see Amy Jackson donning the character of an English girl.

Amy is a British girl from Liverpool who had won the Miss Teen Great Britain contests and Miss Teen World 2009 held in Houston, Texas. This sixteen year old beauty triumphed over twenty five others to win the pageant. This girl with dark hair was initially was planning to take up modeling, before the offer came from Vijay to act in Arya film.

Amy flew to Chennai for a screen test and she was selected. A photo shoot followed. Amy’s character in Madharasapattinam is that of an English girl, who falls for a Madras boy. The 5 ft 8 inches Amy is now shooting with Arya in Bangalore.

After the success of Naan Kadavul and the technically brilliant Sarvam, Arya is a hot property in Kollywood. He got to get lots of scripts these days and is very choosy that he acts only in unique films which have got something different to offer the audience.

The others in the cast are Nasser, V.M.C Haneefa and Bala Singh.

The film has music by G.V Prakash, lyrics by Na. Muthukumar and cinematographer is Nirav Shah. The sets are designed by Selvakumar and film’s editing is carried out by Antony.

The film has rich production values and will please all sections of the viewers.

Leading producers Kalpathi S Aghoram is producing the big budget Madhrasapattinam. Release date is expected in later part of 2009 or early 2010.
