Nearly a year after the release of 'Katcheri Arambam', Jeeva's fans were delighted as his long awaited movie 'Singam Puli' is hitting screens today. The film was almost like a double delight for all his fans as Jeeva plays dual role as a fisherman and lawyer. The film marks the debut directorial of Sai Ramani and is produced by Silver Line Film Factory Productions. Divya Spandana makes her comeback in Kollywood after ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’ while Honey Rose renamed as Soundarya commences her second innings.

Let us take a sneak peek into the film's synopsis followed by a crisp analysis.

Jeeva plays the dual role of twin brothers Ashok, a Lawyer and Shiva – a fisherman. Ashok goes to any extend of risking his life for the sake of gaining pleasure especially from girls while short-tempered Shiva feels that it is better to commit suicide rather than torturing others for personal gratifications. What happens when their paths cross? The film is a commercial entertainer with the right mix of comedy, suspense and a murder mystery involved in it.

Wanna know the best take of Singam Puli? There is nothing special to appreciate the movie except the casual yet captivating performance of Jeeva in dual roles. As a cheerfully boisterous playboy and a honest-yet-short tempered youngster, he does a good job by sticking to the core of his characterizations.

There are three best scenes things that keep you occupied throughout the movie.

1. Infuriated Shiva Vs Nasty Ashok.
2. Santhanam's get-up, especially as woman and his difficulties in handling Ashok.
3. Conversations between Shiva and his father Ponvannan, especially when he asks his father to get out of the house.

Double entendres in the movie could have been limited to a certain extent as it may not receive good feedbacks from major groups of audiences. Divya Spandana does her role properly though she doesn't get much scope as it was in her Vaaranam Aayiram. Soundarya aka Honey Rose looks too odd for the role. Ponvannan and Kuyili try for the best results and indeed win the appreciations.

Manisharma's musical score is not appealing and so are the other technical aspects. But it's not an issue to keep analyzing on technical fronts for a movie that is a commercial entertainer.

On the whole, 'Singam Puli' is a commercial entertainer with the storyline reminding us off various movies based on the same plots. If you aren't looking for logics and anything new and your purpose is to just spend leisure time, ‘Singam Puli’ is recommended for you.

Verdict: For lovers of Commercial Cinema
