America's premier index Dow Jones closed below 10,000 mark yesterday as investors worried about financial crisis spreading to more regions. Yesterday sell off started in Asia in the morning with 4 to 5% losses across the board followed by Europe which suffered more severe losses.
London FTSE lost 5.77%, DAX 7.07% and Russia 19%.
Dow Jones opened in the red and slipped to below 10,000 levels in the early trading. Then it crashed 800 points, largest ever intra-day crash in the history of US stock markets. Finally it closed at 9955, down 369 points from it's previous close. Banks across the globe injected billions of dollars to ease the situation.
