A major earthquake hit North Gorontalo Regency in Indonesia's Sulawesi island on early Monday measuring 7.7 on Richter scale.

The US Geological Survey and Indonesian's National Meteorology and Geophysics Agency warned about a tsunami in the area immediately after the earthquake. But after one hour Indonesian government lifted the warning.
