Chennai Mass rapid transit system or MRTS connects Chennai beach station to Thirumaylai in the first phase through fort, park, Chintadripet, Chepauk, Tiruvallikeni and Lighthouse.

Phase II connects Thirumaylai to Velachery. Stations in between are Mandaveli, Greenways Road, Kotturpuram, Kasturba Nagar, Indira Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur,Munda Kanni Amman Koil Street, TIDEL Park, Taramani1 and Taramani2.

Phase III will connect Velachery to St. Thomas Mount and join the Beach-Tambaram route.
