Historic town of Srirangapatna in the Mandya district of Karnataka. Srirangapatna is a definite tourist spot for any one visiting Mysore.

Srirangapatna is 15km away from Mysore city in the Bangalore - Mysore Highway. Srirangapatnam was the capital of Hyder Ali and his son, the famous Tipu Sultan, popularly known as the "Tiger of Mysore".

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace and Museum, Tippu's death place, Tipu Sultan's Tomb Gumbaz, and his jails are all well preserved in Srirangapatna. The island town is surrounded by a big fort, the remains of the fort are still there.

Srirangapatna enshrines Vishnu as Ranganatha in the Ranganathaswamy temple, which is said to date back to the period of the Ganga ruler Tirumalaiya of the 9th century CE.
