Aindham Padai – commercial film on whole

Production: Ayngaran International, Avni Cinemax

Direction: Badri

Star-casts: Sundar C, Simran, Devayani, Akshaya, Nasser, Mukesh, Thodanna, Vivek, Sampath and others.

Music: D. Imman

Looks like Sundar C has no ideas about performing a film with substantial content. All the while, he’s continuously picking up raw commercial cinemas that don’t carry any of his potentials on the screens. Badri who had earlier remade Mohan Lal’s award winning film in Tamil as ‘Veeraappu’ directs his mentor again in ‘Aindham Padai’.

Oops! The film is so commercial in terms of everything where Badri seems to have lost his ideals of maintaining the logics. However, with Sundar C followed by group of fans, the film will relatively pick some good market for a week.

The film has nothing special in script as it is more or less the same as earlier stories made with clichéd elements on enmities between families.

It’s a story about five brothers: Elder one Gunasekaran (Nasser), Karunakaran (Thodanna), Prabhakaran (Sundar C) and couple of younger brothers Dinakaran (Mukesh) and another one (Vivek). As the film moves ahead it unravels about enmity with other family where Devasena (Simran) is a pampered daughter. But Gunasekaran is kind enough in breaking the hardships and getting united by arranging nuptials for Devasena with his brother Karunakaran. However, Devasena mistakes Prabhakaran to be her bridegroom. When things are unraveled and Prabhakaran turns away from Devasena’s offer of marrying him, she vows to alienate him from his family by marrying Karunakaran.

Sundar C doesn’t emote to any sequences properly while Simran is quite good on her show. But adding songs on Devayani and Simran is really absurd as even the frontbencher wouldn’t admire it. It’s really wondering to see how comes 5 brothers of the same family are enunciating with different slang. You’ll spot one of the brothers speaking with Chennai slang, while Vivek in Thirunalveli Annachi style and another as a Rowdy.

Musical score by D. Imman isn’t convincing and so does the other technical aspects.

If spared for illogical aspects in the movie and if there’s no room for questioning, the film ‘Aindham Padai’ will be surely enjoyed by you. But mistakes are so blatant and hard to refuse for an intellectual audience.

Verdict: Middling entertainer
