Its time for Akshay Kumar to open this yearâs show, with his big budget commercial extravaganza Chandni Chowk To China.
Cc2c was in news from the time it began shooting in January 2008.
Cc2c is an action comedy with a dash of martial arts directed by Nikhil Advani and is said to be on the lines of Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon.
Cc2c which is said to be Bollywoodâs first kung fu comedy is the first big release of 2009, which opens across cinema halls on Jan 16th.
The film is the first Hindi film to be shot in China. Many parts of the film were shot in Bangkok, Thailand.
Apart from Akshay Kumar it stars, Deepika Padukone, Mithun Chakravarthy and Hong Kong veteran Gordon Liu.

Cc2c's first international premiere was held at the Steve J. Ross theatre in LA. Itâs the theatre which recently premiered The Dark Knight and Oceans 13.
John Landis, the director of Beverly Hills Cop 3,Rob Cohen of The Fast & Furious, were some of the topnotch Hollywood directors who turned up for the Los Angeles premiere Mera Naam Chin Chin Choo, Made in China, were the name earlier put for film. It is written by Sridhar Raghavan.
Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy does the music. The album features music by Kailash Kher, Bappi Lahiri-Bappa Lahiri
A rap song sung by Akshay Kumar which is composed by Punjabi rapper Bohemia is music highlight. The music was released on December. The album consists of 8 songs. Itâs said to be the next musical hit.
Disappointing news is that, the Chinese government has denied the film permission for release. China only allows twenty international films to be released every year.
This two and half hour film is much shorter than directorâs earlier film Salaam-e-Ishq.
Cc2c has Akshay Kumar playing a cook from Chandni Chowk who is mistaken to be the reincarnation of a Kung FU warrior and is taken to Shanghai to fight an evil gang lord. Deepika Padukone is in the double role of an Indian and Chinese woman. Mithun Chakraborthy plays Akshayâs dad in this flick.
This is Warner Bros Picturesâ second Hindi film. WB is releasing it on par Hollywood film with 50 prints in the US.
Cc2c is slated to release in India on 16 January 2009.
