After the success of Padikkadhavan, Dhanush is working in Jawahar's Kutty and Vetrimaran's Aadukalam. Just one film old, the Polladhavan director has proved his mettle and made magic with his style of narration.

Aadukalam is based on true incidents that took place in Madurai. Madurai plays a pivotal role in the film that director Vetri Maaran has started an office in here to absorb the flavor of the place. He stayed in Madurai to prepare the screenplay and dialogues in Madurai dialect.

Dhanush expressed confidence that the film will definitely turn out as good as their previous venture Polladhavan. In Aadukalam he is playing a local Madurai boy. Dhanush has undergone rigorous training to generate a powerful performance.

Heroine Tapasee Pannu plays an Anglo Indian girl and Dhanush's love interest in Aadukalam. Societal problems will play a major role in their love affair.

Sri Lankan Tamil writer V. I. S. Jayabalan is making his acting debut through this film. Comedian Karunaas also play an important role.

G.V. Prakash composes the music.

The entire shooting of the film Aadukalam will take place in Madurai, Tamil Nadu for the coming months.
Aadukalam has already generated much curiosity as Sun Pictures has acquired the yet to be shot film and would be involved in marketed and distributing it.

Trisha was planned as the heroine in Aadukalam, but she has withdrawn from the project as the actress is now planning her debut Bollywood project with Akshay Kumar.
