A child's ambition to become a cricketer like Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the theme of the film. The conflict between the interests of his father and himself is the crux of the story. His father wants him to study MBA.

Bollywood actress Mugdha Godse play the heroine in Dhoni. Prabhu Deva is appearing in a cameo role in Dhoni. This is a bilingual movie, releasing both in Tamil and Telugu.

The music of the film was launched on 28 January 2012. The film will be released in February.
