As per the latest reports 1315 Palestinians killed and 5500 injured during Israel's 22 days long massacre in Gaza strip.

The real picture of the damage is yet to come even though Israel started pulling back its forces based on the ceasefire announced on Saturday.

Gaza, which is 365 square kilometers wide with around 14 lakh population, has been devastated by Israeli forces in the three weeks long attack.

As per the data released by the Palestinian officials 417 children, 108 women and 120 senior citizens died during the attack. So far 4684 Palestinians died since 2000 in Israel's attack on Gaza.

4100 building fully destroyed and 17,000 partially damaged including 30 mosques and 25 educational institutions.

Israel claims that the attack on Gaza helped to destabilize Hamas but Hamas declared that Israel's 22-day air and land assault had done nothing to weaken the militant group.

The UN and Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International has accused Israel of using white phosphorus in civilian areas of the Gaza Strip.

At his weekly Sunday noon prayer, Pope Benedict XVI condemned the violence in Gaza that has killed hundreds of "innocent victims".

Head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Monday, warning that severe health risks will persist in Gaza after the ceasefire.

It is still not clear what forced Israel for a sudden attack and a sudden pullback on Gaza strip. Analysts feel that it is clearly aligned with the new US President's inauguration function as Israel started attack exactly three weeks before the inauguration and pulled back just 3 days before.

Obama's stand on the middle-east crisis is still not clear. So if he decides not to support Israel blindly, as Bush did, then it would become difficult for Israel for a large scale attack on Gaza.

So analysts feel that Israel wisely chose the transition period for the massacre on the Gaza to avoid any objections from both Presidents.

It is very true that Israel cannot do anything without help from the big brother. Since US reputation, financial capability and power are shrinking it is necessary for Israel to keep a tight hold on Hamas as a new world order wouldn't allow Israel for any large scale human violation in the middle-east.
