Zimbabwean dollar is loosing it's value everyday. When it crossed 51,000 crore Zimbabwean dollars per US dollar range Zimbabwean government decided to cut 10 zeros from it's currency.

So from 1st August 2008 onwards 10,000,000,000 old Zimbabwean dollar became 1 new Zimbabwean dollar. But it only helped to reduce the complexity in calculation.

At the time of change it was valued 7.58/ US dollar but again started depreciating and now it is at 168 per US dollar.

But these are all official figures. In reality you have to pay 10,00,000 new Zimbabwean dollar to get one US dollar in the parallel market. That is if you add the removed zeros then the actual value of currency is

1 US dollar = 10,000,000,000,000,000 Zimbabwean dollar

People in Zimbabwe are struggling to cope up with their daily depreciating currency. 1000s of people are waiting in front of ATMs to withdraw money. There is a withdrawal limit of 20,000 Zimbabwean dollar. But that doesn't even fit to buy a news paper.

People are living without proper food and there is big scarcity of medicines and other necessary things. Most of the places are without water and power. Even capital city Harare is facing 20 hour power cut every day.

Now situation is going to be worse as the latest inflation reported last week was an all time high of 23,10,00,000%.
