Popular South Indian music director Vijay Antony, who is known for mass numbers like Naakka Mukka from film Kadhalil Vizhunthen, is to raise tough competition to onscreen heroes as he turns himself into one in the forthcoming flick Naan.

Vijay Antony is widely touted to be one of the fastest rising composers in Tamil. He won the 2009 Cannes Golden Lion for the commercial for The Times of India.

After his Nakka Mukka... song which became a youth anthem he was selected as music director for Vijay’s film Vettaikaran. His chart topping songs like Chinna Thamarai and the catchy melody Aval Appadi Ondrum Azhagillai ... in Angadi Theru are currently being played in TV and FM stations one after the other.

This handsome music director has been swamped with offers from various producers to become hero in their films but Vijay opted to debut in his own production Naan. Naan is a musical thriller directed by Shankar, a former assistant of the late cameraman turned director Jeeva.

The film’s shoot has begun in a bungalow on ECR. The shoot will be completed in a single schedule and is to be released in August. Vijay Antony himself will be composing music.

Actress Roopa of Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru fame will sing and dance with Vijay Antony. Filmmakers were not willing to disclose anything about the project. More details about the project are expected soon.
