Scientists are planning to do a DNA test to study more about the 'father of the astronomy' Galileo Galilei, who made many space related discoveries in the 16th century.

Galileo is known to have had intermittent eye problems for the second half of his life and was totally blind for his last two years.

"From the time of his astronomical discoveries onwards, Galileo wrote to friends and relatives about the trouble he was having with his eyes and the difficulties it created for his observations," said Paolo Galluzzi, the director of Florence's museum of the history of science.

In spite of the vision problems Galileo made many discoveries like spots on the sun, chronicled the lunar mountains and pits, and discovered the largest of the satellites orbiting Jupiter.

But now scientists believe that some errors in Galileo's observations were due to his vision problems. For example, Galileo described Saturn's ring as bulges.

Also when his body was moved to another place historians came to know that a woman's body also buried with him, believed to be his daughter.

Now scientists expect that the DNA test will give details about his vision problem and all other miseries about this great scientist.
