Vettaikaran is still not confirmed for release on the festival of lights.

This Vijay starrer film is nearing completion; it has undergone some mishap including a fire accident which destroyed the set costing Rs. 3 crore rupees in AVM Studios at Vadapalani The set was erected on the seventh floor of the studio. A few scenes were shot at the sets.

Produced by AVM Bala Subramanian and B Gurunath Meiyappan, the film is directed by Babu Sivan. Anushka pairs up with Vijay in this film.

Sun Pictures had acquired the release rights for Vettaikaran.

The actor is busy shooting a song. This song which was to be shot in New Zealand has changed its location due to visa problems. The post production work is to be followed after the song is completed which makes it almost impossible to release film as expected.
