Director Saran and Ajith Kumar are gearing up for the new project which will be Ajith's 49th venture. This is director Saran's fourth film with Ajith, after Kadhal Mannan, Amarkalam and Attagasam; all their previous ventures where super hits at the box office.

Asal's tagline is as powerful as ultimate star Ajith The Power of Silence.

Asal's pooja took place at Sivaji's family residence. The event was attended by Ajith, Saran, Prabu, Ramkumar, Vairamuthu, Yugi Sethu, Bharadwaj, Antony and M Prabhakar.

Sameera Reddy was confirmed for female lead much before as Gowtham Menon had got her signed for this project. Later Gowtham Menon stepped out of the project. This will be Sameera Reddy’s second Tamil film after Vaaranum Aayiram.
