Samantha's full name is Samantha Ruth Prabhu. She has acted in Tamil and Telugu movies. Born on April 28, 1987, Samantha was born to a Malayali mother and a Telugu father.

Samantha's first released film was in Telugu: Ye Maaya Chesave by Gowtham Menon, which was the remake of the hit Tamil movie Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya. She appeared in a guest role in Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya too.

Samantha appeared in a number of Tamil films in 2010 viz., Baana Kaathadi opposite Atharva and Moscowin Kavery and also in a Telugu film titled Brindaavanam.

2011 started for her with Nadunisi Naaygal again by Gowtham Menon. She acted in three Telugu movies in 2011 namely Dookudu, Eega.

Samantha's Tamil Movies are Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (Cameo), Baana Kaathadi, Moscowin Kavery, Naan Ee, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru (Cameo), Anjaan, Kaththi and 10 Enradhukulla(upcoming).
