Shriya Saran

Shriya Saran is a famous Indian film actress who acts in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films. Her career started with Telugu film industry. But she acted in a number of films in Tamil and Hindi as well with leading heroes of Indian cinema.

Trivia
Shriya Saran was born on September 11, 1982, as the second child to Pushpendra Saran, a senior executive in BHEL, and Neeraja Saran, a teacher in Chemistry at Delhi Public School, Haridwar and later Mathura Road, Delhi. Shriya has an elder brother Abhiroop. She did her schooling in Delhi Public School, Haridwar and completed B.A(Literature) from Lady Sri Ram College(LSR). Shriya is a classical dancer and an accomplished Kathak Dancer. Her career started with modelling and then roles in advertisements and music albums. She spends a lot of time and energy on social causes and is the brand ambassador of "Naandi Foundation" and "SACH".

Film Career
Shriya was debuted into the world of cinema in the Telugu film 'Ishtam' in 2001. She then acted in the film 'Santosham' with Nagarjuna. The film was a major hit and Shriya became popular among Telugu audience. Shriya acted opposite to Chiranjeevi in the Telugu film 'Tagore'. After the huge success of the film, Shriya became one of the top actresses of the south Indian film industry. She had done many other films in Telugu with 'Chatrapati' opposite Prabhas being one of the biggest hits in her career. She got a lot of glamerous roles. But she was very selective with films. Shriya acted opposite to all leading heroes of Tollywood like Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, and Mahesh Babu.

Hindi Films
In between, Shriya did a couple of Hindi films like ‘Thoda Tum Badlo Thoda Hum’ opposite Arya Babbar and the supernatural thriller ‘Shukriya’ with Aaftab Shivdasani. Both the films did well in the box office.

Films in Tamil
Shriya's first Tamil film was 'Enakku 20 Unakku 18' in 2003. She acted in the film 'Mazhai' with Jeyam Ravi, which did well in box office. Her most coveted role in Tamil is opposite Rajinikant in 'Sivaji:The Boss'. She was selected for the role beating many top actresses in the film industry. Sivaji is the most costliest film ever produced in Indian Cinema.

Upcoming Movies
Shriya is now acting opposite Tamil superstars Vijay in ‘Azhagiya Tamil Magan’ and Vikram in ‘Kandasaamy’. Shriya's new Hindi film ‘Awaarapan’ with Emraan Hashmi directed by Mohit Suri is in the post-production stage. She will be Bobby Deol's heroine in director Sangeet Sivan's new Hindi film produced by K.Sera. Shriya has also signed up for two new projects in Telugu for 2008.
