Stanley Medical College and Hospitals is one of the oldest centers in India in the field of medical education. Stanley Medical College is a government medical college located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in the year 1938 and is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. The college is named after Sir Frederick Stanley, the then Governor of Madras.

The college offers undergraduate courses such as MBBS, BSc Nursing, and postgraduate courses in various specializations such as MD, MS, and DM. The campus of Stanley Medical College is spread over 47 acres and has a hospital with over 1200 beds, providing healthcare services to people in Chennai and surrounding areas.

The admission to the MBBS program is based on the NEET score and For postgraduate courses, students need to qualify for the NEET-PG entrance examination. Stanley Medical College admits about 150 to 165 students every year. Stanley Medical College is associated with the well known Government Stanley Hospital which has 1280 beds for in-patient treatment.

The India Today list of top 25 medical colleges for 2007 ranks Stanley Medical College as number 11 in India. Outlook ranks Stanley Medical College as number 19 in India in 2007. AIIMS ranked number 1 on both the rankings.
