Surya is a popular film actor from the Tamil film industry. His original name is Saravanan Sivakumar. He was born on 23 July,
1975 in Coimbatore. He did his schooling in PSBB, Chennai and did his B.Com from Loyola College, Chennai. Surya worked in as
an Executive in a garment factory in Ambattur before stepping into the film industry.
Family
Surya's father is the popular Tamil film actor Siva Kumar. He is the eldest son in the family and has an younger brother Karthik and younger sister Brindha. He married the popular Tamil movie actress Jyothika on September 11, 2006 at Park Sheraton Hotel in Chennai, after an affair of 3 years. The couple is blessed with a baby Girl now. The baby was born on August 10, 2007 in Chennai.
Film Career
Surya was debuted in the Tamil film "Nerrukku Ner", in 1997. In this film he acted with his collegemate and famous actorVijay and the movie was a superhit. But his next films did not run well. Then his success came with the movie "Poovellam Kettuppar" in 1998. Surya's next movie also with Vijay "Friends" was another hit. His turning point in films came with the movie "Nandha" by director Bala. This film is considered as one of the best films of Surya. Surya has won the Filmfare Best Actor Award South on two occasions.
Surya then acted in a number of good movies like "Unnai Ninathu", and "Mounam Pesiyadhe". His next major hit was the film "Kaaka Kaaka", in which he acted with Jyothika (his wife now). Surya's movie "Pithamagan" alongside Vikram was a big hit. Some of his good movies followed like "Perazhagan", "Aayitha Ezhuthu" and "Aaru". His movie "Ghajini" was a blockbuster in 2005. Surya's recent venture was "Sillunu Oru Kaadhal" with Jyothika.
