Jyothika

Jyothika is the heart throb of Tamil films. She is a talented, pretty and very cute actress from Mumbai. Jyothika became successful in Tamil movies with in a short span of time. She is a gifted actress and has acted in many films opposite big heroes like Kamalhasan, Rajnikant, Vijay, Ajit and Surya.

Trivia
Jyothika Sadanah was born in Mumbai on October 18, 1978 to a film producer Chander Sadanah and Seema Sadanah. She has two sisters Nandita (Nagma) and Radhika (Roshni) and a brother Rahul. Nagma is also a popular Tamil film actress. Jyothika is a big fan of A.R. Rahman music. She has a degree in Psychology from Mithi Bai College of Arts, Mumbai. She is married to popular film actor Surya and is blessed with a baby girl.

Jyothikas Entry to Film Field
Jyothika had her debut in a Hindi movie titled Doli Saja Ke Rekhna opposite to Akshay Khanna and directed by Priyadarsan in 1998. The film was not a big success at the box office. But Jyothika was noted by film directors from Tamil and Telugu. She was introduced into Tamil films as a guest artist in the movie Vaali in the year 1999.

Career as an Actress
Jyothika continued to act in films after her small role in Vaali. Some of her films are Snegithiye, Rhythm, Kushi (with Vijay), Thenali (with Kamalhasan and Jayaram), Star, Poovellaam Kettuppaar, 12 B, Dum Dum Dum, Little John and Raja. The year 2003 was a golden year for Jyothika. She had many successful movies like Priyamana Thozhi(opposite Madhavan), Dhool (opposite Vikram), Kaaka Kaaka(opposite Surya) and Thirumalai (with Vijay). She was considered as the superstar heroine at that time.

Movies in 2004 and 2005
Jyothika acted in a number of movies in 2004 and 2005 like Manmadhan, Peralagan, Arul and June R. Her biggest hit in 2005 was Chandramukhi in which he acted with Rajnikant and Prabhu. Her performance as Ganga and Chandramukhi was excellent. The film was based on Multiple Personality Disorder.

Jyothika acted in Telugu movies like Tagore opposite Chiranjeevi and Mass with Nagarjuna Akkineni.

Jyothikas Recent Movies
Movies like Saravana and Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam are her recent films. Her upcoming movies are Jillunu Oru Kaadhal with Surya, Vettaiyadu Villaiyadu with Kamalhasan, Silanthi, Mozhi and Manikanda(scheduled for 2007).

Awards
She has bagged Filmfare Award twice: Best Debutant in 1999 for the film Vaali and Best Actress in 2005 for the film Chandramukhi. She won the Dinakaran Award for the Best Actress in 2004 for the film Perazhagan. The same film won her the Tamil Nadu Government Award for Best Actress in 2004.
