Chinmaya Vidyalaya had its humble beginning at 13th Avenue, Harrington Road, Chennai - 31, on Vijayadasami Day in October 1968, with a small strength of 30. In 39 years the Vidyalaya has grown remarkably with a strength of 1500 students and about 100 faculty members.

The Vidyalaya functions from 8:30 AM to 3:10 PM, with the kindergarten and primary up to class III, at Harrington Road, and classes IV to XII at Taylor’s Road. The school curriculum is formulated in accordance with Chinmaya Vision Program so as to provide each student physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual enhancement. Bhajan, Gita Chanting and Moral Instruction are included in the curriculum besides academics. The Vidyalaya is now under the able guidance of Principal Sri. C. Sathiyamoorthy who is a recipient of National Award for Best Teacher.

Children completing three years and six months as on the 1st June of the year of the application, alone shall seek admission to L. K. G. The school will consider for admission, subject to availability of seats, pupils from all schools recognized by the Central Board or the State Board, on production of Transfer Certificate duly issued by competent officers of the Educational Department. The applicant should also satisfy the requirements of the C. B. S. E. scheme of curriculum. In general, preference will be given for admission to pupils from C. B. S. E. Schools. Admissions will be based on the performance in the Entrance tests conducted by the school.
