Kanyakumari Temple

The Kanyakumari temple is dedicated to Kanya Devi.

The main entrance to the temple is through the northern gate though the deity is facing east. The eastern entrance is kept closed except on special occasions when the deity is taken out for ceremonial bath.

The main festivals at the Kanyakumari temple are held in the month of Vaikasi and the Navarathri. Male worshippers are required to remove their shirts before entering the temple.

Kanyakumari has been a great center for culture, civilization and pilgrimage for years.

Kanyakumari forms the southern most end of mainland India. It is also the place where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean merge.
